Hannah's passion for inclusive music-making inspired her to study a master's degree in community music. While studying for her MA, Hannah worked alongside Catherine Holbrook (founder and artist director of All Seasons Orchestra) as the assistant conductor of ASO, an open-access community orchestra based in York. As a student researcher, Hannah helped in the writing and editing process for an article to be published in the 'International Community Music Journal'.

After graduating with a Masters from The University of York, Hannah Jayne now works as an experienced, professional peripatetic instrumental tutor and community musician based in York, UK. Hannah is a passionate advocate for the value of music education; truly believing music has the power to support diversity, self-confidence and well-being. As a multi-instrumentalist, Hannah draws influence from a full spectrum of musical styles to best inform her teaching, which she hopes will inspire a life-long love of music that stretches beyond the classroom.

‘I believe that the study of music can teach compassion, self-respect and an active interest in the world. I teach with the hope to inspire creative thinking, and to help my students approach their practice with wholehearted commitment. ’

‘I am aware, as an instrumental tutor, the quality of my teaching can impact the lives of my students emotionally and mentally.  Therefore, I listen carefully to my students to promote an open working relationship to help them feel valued, and to grow in confidence under my care.  I teach my students to practice patience, resilience, persistence and determination.  I teach the value of hard work, emotional empathy and musical discipline. I develop a working relationship with my students so they can feel at ease to make mistakes and learn through them.  I teach with conviction to instill in my students the value of preparation and practice. I am honored to inspire and share my love of music with others’
